The police testimony of Alex Mark, the 40-year-old man who held the two minor children hostage in a rented apartment in the area of the Rock of Kavaja in Durrës, has been revealed.
He has accepted the conflict with his wife, who according to him was related to someone else.
While he claims that he took the children to the apartment he went to because he wanted to get them away from the woman's boyfriend. So, the 40-year-old claims that the latter was coming to attack him, that's why he came out with Kalashnikovs at the window.
"My children and I stayed at home on the beach for four days and the children were very good with me. The woman had fled to Italy and we have been arguing with each other for some time. From the last argument we had, she left for Italy and I took the children and we came to Durrës. She has a lover and that's why I wanted to send them away. Yesterday her lovers came to the house to attack us and that's why I went out shooting them to leave. I didn't do anything to them to the children, I simply took the boy with me to the balcony when I was shooting, so that I could witness him. I have not been violent with the children," Aleks Marku stated to the police.
Meanwhile, the police say that at the time he was shooting, he was holding the boy on the balcony and had made up his mind that if the police came, he would tell the police that some men had come to kill us.
So he used the boy as an alibi and as a "witness" trying to teach him what to say when the police came.
He did the whole incident because he suspects that his wife is cheating on him, that's why this situation has been created in the family, according to Mark, and that's why yesterday's incident happened.
The mother and the children have already returned to Lezhë and are not in the apartment in Shkêmbi e Kavaja.
Alex Marku is expected to undergo a drug test, but according to sources, he was under the influence of narcotics at the time when he fired a gun inside the apartment, breaking the window panes and causing damage to the walls.
40-year-old Aleks Marku terrorized children and neighbors at Shkëmbi i Kavaja from 2 o'clock at night until yesterday morning while shooting with a Kalashnikov inside the rented apartment. After hours of negotiations in which the RENEA forces took part, Mark left the apartment and surrendered.
Fortunately the children were in good health and during the night they had begged him to stop shooting and put the gun away. He had been married to his wife for 11 years and she had reported him to the Lezha police station for psychological violence.
