The federal public prosecutor's office in Brussels, Belgium has requested a sentence of 14 years in prison against another suspect for drug trafficking in the "Sky ECC" megatrial with 128 defendants.
The federal magistrate pointed out that the personal phone of the Albanian Florantin K. had made simultaneous calls to the same places more than 600 times as a phone equipped with encrypted "Sky ECC". The suspect denies being the owner of this device.
On the phone, investigators found photos of stacks of cash, packages of cocaine and conversations with Albanian Eridan Munez Guerrero, the suspected traffic leader.
Eridan Munez Guerrero asks Florantin K., among other things, to "pack the money" and bring him a banknote counter, a machine that will later be found in his home. "Eridan Munez Guerrero supplies drugs in large quantities to Floranti K., who must sell them and report the proceeds from the sale," the prosecutor concluded.
The drug trade crosses Belgian borders and contacts are made in Italy, Germany and Switzerland. "Florantin K. is not dependent on Eridan Munez Guerrero, he has other criminal contacts. Investigators have calculated these gains. They reached a total of 4,545,000 euros", emphasized the Public Prosecutor's Office.
The defendant has already been convicted for similar offenses in Ghent, but has since started working again. "This shows his lack of respect for justice. Therefore, his sentence should be sufficiently deterrent," concluded the judge. He asked for 14 years in prison and the confiscation of 800,000 euros, which is "fully justified" considering the more than 4 million euros earned from the trade
