Two brothers have been arrested by the police after being internationally wanted for several criminal offenses.
According to the police, the two brothers, Erion Hoti alias Erion Lamallari and Klodjan Hoti, were captured in Italy and are being arrested with the aim of extradition to Albania.
According to the investigative file, Erion Hoti was declared wanted with a security measure by the Durrës Court, after in January 2022, he was sentenced to "prison arrest" for the criminal offenses of "violent theft" and "supporting the perpetrator of the crime."
He is accused of having, in collaboration with other persons, on February 7, 2021, violently stolen a vehicle, a sum of money, and a cell phone, on the premises of a dairy factory.
He also helped hide citizen HH, wanted for the criminal offense of "assisting illegal border crossing";
Meanwhile, Klodjan Hoti, 31 years old, was sentenced in absentia by the Dibra Court, which in July 2020 sentenced him to 4 years and 4 months in prison for the criminal offense of "cultivation of narcotic plants".
In 2019, he was caught red-handed inside a greenhouse in Martanesh, where he had cultivated narcotic seedlings in 1,324 plastic cups. He has 1 year, 6 months and 15 days left to serve of his sentence.
"As a result of the provision of information by the Criminal Police Department of the State Police and its exchange, in real time through Interpol Tirana, with the Italian Police, 2 Albanian citizens (brothers) who were declared internationally wanted have been located and captured in Italy and arrested for the purpose of extradition to Albania.
-EH alias EL, 35 years old. In January 2022, the Durrës Court assigned this citizen the security measure of "Arrest in prison" for the criminal offenses of "Theft by force" and "Supporting the perpetrator of the crime". He is accused of having, in collaboration with several other citizens, on 07.02.2021, forcibly stolen a vehicle, a sum of money and a mobile phone from the premises of a dairy factory. He also helped to hide citizen HH, wanted for the criminal offense of "Aid for illegal border crossing";
KH, 31 years old. In July 2020, the Dibra Court sentenced this citizen to 4 years and 4 months in prison for the criminal offense of "Cultivation of narcotic plants". In 2019, citizen KH was caught red-handed inside a greenhouse in Martanesh, where he had cultivated narcotic seedlings in 1324 plastic cups. This citizen has 1 year, 6 months and 15 days left to serve from his sentence.
"Interpol Tirana and Interpol Rome are carrying out the procedures for the extradition of these citizens to Albania," the police announced.
