28 Albanians were arrested today by the Trento Anti-Mafia, as part of Operation "Daku", which began in 2023.
The entire operation began after over 150 drug trafficking incidents were documented through surveillance, video footage and photographs. The suspects had set up a communication system to avoid eavesdropping through fictitious accounts, encrypted chats and social media platforms.
In total, over 60 kg of cocaine, hashish and heroin or cannabis were seized. Around 80 thousand euros in cash, weapons and other valuable evidence were also seized.
The organization used coded language, often including the Albanian nickname "Daku" by which the contingents called each other. Environmental and telephone interceptions were carried out, as well as decrypting various conversations on platforms, social networks and phones.
The organization is known to have consisted of 5 cells, and cocaine from Latin America, where the best quality was selected, came mainly through Belgium and Spain.
The drugs were hidden in specially constructed double bottoms in the vehicles. 22 people had been arrested earlier in various operations, while investigations by the Antimafia of Trento are in progress. Stops were carried out in various areas of Tyrol, the northern region of Italy. From Milan to Ancona.
