According to the latest information provided by the investigation group, about 6 months ago the Dutch authorities discovered in the communication applications of a group of cocaine traffickers, a contact with 3 letters, which performed money laundering.
This contact used an alternative method of transferring money, with the intermediary of persons, such as the hawala system, and the other way of dealing was with a cashi "courier" to collect and deliver the money, who informed him of the "balance" every day. of receipts and payments.
The Dutch police carried out these investigations within the coded operation "Klaver", managing to discover that behind the contact with 3 letters was hidden the name of Thanas Bako alias Athanasios Bako, 52 years old with Albanian citizenship and Greek nationality, born in Saranda, Albania and resident of Glifadha, Greece. Based on communications in the Encrochat, Sky ECC and Anom applications, Bako's activity was discovered in the period June 2020 - May 2021, where it is estimated that around 250 million euros have been circulated. The Greek police, who have also launched an investigation against Bako, have discovered that his Real Estate company, in which Bako owns 99% of the shares, owns at least 13 apartments in the area of Dafni and Ilioupoli.
Checks in the apartment revealed currency of 9 different types with a total value of about 16,000 euros, while bank accounts worth about 70,000 euros were discovered. In the apartment, they also seized 2 luxury watches worth about 100 thousand euros.
