
Korça Police have initiated criminal proceedings against two employees of the Vishocica post office in Devoll, suspected of a serious theft worth 22 million new lek.
The focus of the investigation is the 29-year-old manager P. Sh. and the 27-year-old treasurer E. Ç., who are suspected of having collaborated closely to embezzle public funds during the period September 2025, January 2026.
According to the official announcement of the Korça Local Police Directorate, the person responsible is accused of embezzling pension and economic assistance funds, mainly for citizens living abroad. She is suspected of forging the signatures of the beneficiaries in order to embezzle the amounts.
Meanwhile, the cashier interfered with the physical and digital records of the cash register by deleting and manipulating payment orders to cover up the theft and favor her colleague.
Investigations are ongoing and the police announce that they are searching for other possible individuals involved in this fraud scheme organized in one of the most sensitive public institutions for the needy.
