A 30-year-old man from Vlora has been arrested in the coastal city, after being declared internationally wanted by Spanish authorities for drug trafficking.
He is accused of being involved in the trafficking of over 82 kilograms of cocaine, seized on February 5, 2026, in the port of Vigo, Spain.
According to the Police, the 30-year-old, Klevi Kananaj , was located in Vlora after the real-time exchange of information between Albanian and Spanish authorities. He was provisionally arrested with the aim of extradition to Spain.
Spanish judicial authorities had issued an arrest warrant against him on March 3, 2026, for the criminal offense of "Drug Trafficking".
Investigations show that the arrested person is suspected of collaborating with other people to traffic the cocaine load, which was hidden in a container. The drugs were seized by Spanish police at the port of Vigo, while during the operation two other people were arrested red-handed who tried to remove the load.
According to the investigative file, the 33-year-old's role was to observe the container from outside the port terminal. After seizing the drugs, he is suspected of having initially fled to Catalonia and then to Italy, 11 days after the operation in Vigo.
" The 93rd phase of the operation codenamed "Operacionalja" is being finalized by the services of the Special Operations Force Directorate.
A member of a criminal group accused of trafficking a container with 82.84 kg of cocaine, seized on 05.02.2026, at the port of Vigo, Spain, was arrested in Vlora.
As a result of the real-time exchange of information between Spanish counterparts and the DFPO services, through Interpol Tirana specialists, regarding the location of a citizen declared internationally wanted, the operation codenamed "Operacional 93" was finalized.
During this phase, citizen KK, 30 years old, born in Vlora, was located in Vlora and provisionally arrested, with the aim of extradition to Spain.
For this citizen, the judicial authorities in Spain, on 03.03.2026, issued an arrest warrant for the criminal offense of "Trafficking in narcotics".
The 30-year-old is accused of collaborating with other citizens to traffic 82.84 kg of cocaine, hidden in a container, into Spain. The narcotic substance was seized by the Spanish Police on 05.02.2026, at the port of Vigo, where 2 citizens were also arrested in flagrante delicto while trying to remove the cargo.
Investigations suspect that the 30-year-old's role was to observe the container from outside the terminal. He initially left for Catalonia, and 11 days after the incident, he fled to Italy.
"Cooperation between Interpol Tirana and Interpol Madrid continues to finalize the procedure for the extradition of the 30-year-old ," the police announced.
