The Korça Prosecutor's Office is convinced that the murder in Pogradec was committed by 37-year-old Ilirjan Selmani. Although he denies responsibility, the prosecution has issued an official arrest warrant for the young man.
Investigations have revealed that Selmani, who had an 8-year-long intimate relationship with Kozeta Teço, had been staying at her house on the night of the crime. It is suspected that a momentary conflict occurred between them, which escalated into physical violence and ended with Teço fatally stabbing him. To hide his tracks, the perpetrator attempted to clean up the scene, then threw the bloody towels and napkins into a trash can and set the apartment on fire.
Despite the attempt to stage the incident as an accident, security cameras recorded the perpetrator throwing the evidence in the trash, which led to his identification and arrest. Selmani, known for his drug addiction and mental health problems, has denied the crime, but the evidence collected by the police and the prosecution documents the full dynamics of the crime.
