Victim Kozeta Teço

The alleged perpetrator, Ilirjan Selmani, 37, with whom Teço had an intimate relationship for 8 years, first killed the 52-year-old, then wiped away the blood using towels and tissues, which he threw in a trash can near the apartment. To eliminate any evidence, he set several fires in the house, but his plan was foiled by security cameras, which recorded him throwing away the bloody materials. Police searched the trash can and found the materials.

Investigative sources indicate that Selmani, who occasionally worked in construction and in Greece, was addicted to narcotics and suffered from mental health problems, for which he also received disability payments.

It is suspected that during the years of their relationship, he had taken around 2 million lek from Kozeta Teço, most of which the victim secured from her sisters who lived in Greece and Tirana.

Selmani himself was escorted to the police station and denied in front of the media at the time of his arrest that he had committed the crime. But the police seem to have secured strong evidence that points to him.
