An assassination attempt with a Kalashnikov assault rifle occurred in the city of Fier on October 34, 2021, and the target of the execution was Demir (Demi) Backa, the owner of the 'Piazza' bar in the center of the city.
At that time, the 57-year-old was injured by the assassination attempt and was taken to the hospital in Fier, but he could not survive his injuries and died.
The incident happened near the shopping center in Fier, a very populated area.
At 20:40, at the place called "QTU Roundabout", while Demir Backa was inside his "Audi" vehicle, in the parking lot, a Kalashnikov was fired from another moving "Benz" vehicle.
It is thought that the 2 perpetrators were inside the "Benz" type vehicle, who, after executing the 57-year-old, left in the direction of Vlora. They burned the vehicle with stolen license plates on the Fier Bypass, in the village of Daullas.
It is believed that the perpetrators have been guarding Demir Backa for days, and watched him before committing the assassination. Demir (Dem) was the brother of former Fier gang member who was killed in 1997, Medi Backa, known as Buc Backa.
Buc Backa was killed in the Levan massacre, along with 23 other people. More than 20 years have passed since the terrible events of 1997, while it is not known if the murder of Demir Backa is related to this massacre.
For the incident, the police of Fier, the "Eagle" Special Force and 2 groups of FNSH have gone to the scene and are combing the area to catch the perpetrator. Meanwhile, several checkpoints have been set up at the entrance and exit of the city of Fier.
