The Tirana Court has put on trial the minor Mario Përlleshaj, the suspected perpetrator of the murder of 14-year-old Martin Cani.
Përlleshaj is accused of murder under extenuating circumstances, while the Tirana Court did not accept the 14-year-old's lawyer's request for a summary trial.
We also recall that last month, through his defense attorney, Mario Përlleshaj submitted a request to the Court of Appeals for a replacement personal security measure. After review, the Court of Appeals in Tirana dismissed the request.
The 14-year-old is in the Kavaja institution, and in December he challenged the measure of "prison arrest". On December 17, the Court of Appeal in Tirana upheld the measure of "prison arrest" against him.
Martin Cani was killed on November 18th a few meters from the "Fan Noli" school in the capital. His friend, Luis Meçja, was also injured in the fight.
