The chairman of the Albania Becomes party, Adriatik Lapaj, said he suspects that the election process on May 11 was manipulated.
From the News24 studio, he said that Albania has won a mandate with 64 thousand votes, while the SP has received a mandate with 7 thousand votes in Vlora.
Lapaj called on the opposition spectrum to unite to change the electoral code.
"The elections were not a victory. It would have been a victory if the system had been broken. It would have been a victory if we had gone to early elections. We have demanded a recount of every box and verification of the seals. They opened a box in Vlora, just to throw ashes in our eyes. We suspect that the process was manipulated. We want to follow the law to the end.
The law says that the ballots must be viewed on camera on both sides. Abuses have been made in Vlora and Fier. We came third out of all the parties. We have also campaigned in regions where we had a difficult time, such as in Dibër, Kukës, etc., and we have done this to say that the electoral system is not fair. We won a mandate with 64 thousand votes, while the Socialist Party in Vlora won a mandate with 7 thousand votes.
"The SP has received 10 mandates plus from the formula and this is a fatal mistake of the DP, and they must apologize and an opposition unity is needed to change the electoral system. The government has business with it, it has crime, the state administration. The Albanian people must demand a change in the electoral system," said Lapaj.
