Will the DP be in the new Parliament? Boçi: There are two positions

MP and Deputy Chairman of the Democratic Party, Luciano Boçi, invited to the show "This Week" on News24, spoke today about the start of the new political season and the challenges of the opposition after the May 11 parliamentary elections, where the DP lost and raised allegations of violations.

He also stressed the importance of international positions on the political climate in the country, emphasizing the anticipation of the OSCE/ODIHR report, which has not yet been published. “ There is a distant stance by the US, which reflects a division between recognizing the results and diplomatic actions towards the government ,” Boçi added.

A key issue remains the DP's decision on whether or not to enter Parliament. Boçi explained that the main forums within the party will decide on this, explaining the two main lines: one that supports participation to execute the voters' trust, and the other that calls for a boycott, arguing that the elections were "rigged."

He emphasized that the National Council meeting will be decisive and will take place soon, based on the extraordinary situation of the denunciations of former President Berisha and the report submitted to international authorities.

Boçi also recalled the negative consequences of the opposition's burning of mandates in the past, which according to him led to the opposition's departure from the system and the loss of international support. " A full reconciliation with the Parliament would be like an acceptance of the election result, so we will define a clear line in our battle, regardless of whether we enter Parliament or not ," concluded the DP deputy leader.
