Prime Minister Edi Rama's plans regarding relations with the US seem to have not gone so well. Even though he used Jared Kushner's card (investing in Sazan), to date he has not received any signal of support from across the Atlantic and the disappointment was visible in the prime minister's eyes today.
Rama had his weekly communication with commentators today, who mentioned the fact that he has not traveled to the US, and Rama indirectly implied that there has been no invitation from Washington for any visit.
" What's your problem, what's your problem? A visit to the USA, when the USA invites you, if it's about meeting the president or others. When the USA invites me, the visit will take place, I'm not worried, I don't see any urgency, no problem, no problem. What's your problem, why is a visit to the USA such bombshell news, what are these bombs? You haven't yet understood how this world works, how countries function. You haven't yet understood that we are a small enough country to take care of ourselves, to do as much work as possible, to have as many open roads as possible ," Rama replied to a commentator.
But his statement today contradicts what he promised a month ago. Babloku boasted that he was preparing a surprise regarding relations with the US, and in the political corridors there was talk of a visit to Washington.
" Will you cross the ocean? I've never had any problems. And rest assured that I will cross it whenever I want, and don't be surprised when you see that I won't cross it... but I'll leave it to time because I want to make a pleasant surprise for you and the swamp ," Rama said in March.
But it seems that Babloku's lobbying has failed. He has lobbied hard under the rug for the prime minister to receive an invitation to at least go to the State Department, but nothing has had any effect. Rama's reaction today was a desperate reaction, which shows that he does not know what relations with the Americans will be like.
