
Voting from abroad for the May 11 parliamentary elections has begun today. This was announced by the State Election Commissioner, Ilirjan Celibashi, who revealed that the first person to vote is a citizen from Dibra residing in Germany.
"Outsourcing voting has begun! Today, at 07:15, the first voter from abroad, residing in Erlangen, Germany and voting in the Dibër district, received his ballot from the Central Election Commission!"
"This is an important step for the inclusion of Albanian citizens abroad in the democratic process of the May 11, 2025 Elections," Celibashi writes.
Over 240,000 Albanian citizens living abroad have registered for the May 11 elections. This is the first time that the diaspora is voting by mail, and their votes will be counted according to the districts where they are registered.
Tirana, Durrës, and Fier are considered the regions with the highest number of voters from abroad.
