Democratic leader Sali Berisha spoke a day ago about the pressures that Prime Minister Edi Rama was exerting on international observers who monitored the May 11 elections, while the final report on this process is expected to be published.
"In this pressure campaign, Edi Rama himself and his Foreign Minister, Igli Hasani, are personally implicated. I have informed that the latter has summoned the representatives of the observer mission to his office, after sending threatening messages and demanding accountability for the phrases that these are the sect that believe their lies," said Berisha.
But these statements by Berisha are rejected, according to Report TV, by the OSCE-ODIHR mission.
In an exclusive response to Report TV, the OSCE-ODIHR mission clarifies that in no case have the observers faced threats or intimidation from the government, thus denying Berisha's statement that Hasani even went so far as to take the observers to his office to threaten them.
"There was no threat or intimidation against our election observation mission at any point during its stay, neither before nor after the publication of the preliminary statement with findings and conclusions," says the OSCE-ODIHR.
The OSCE-ODIHR mission emphasizes that their work “is impartial, independent and based on a methodology developed over the years and used in every country we observe.”

Thank you for your email and for your interest in the work of the ODIHR. There was no threat or intimidation against our election observation mission at any time during its stay, neither before nor after the publication of the preliminary statement with findings and conclusions.
It is important to understand that our election observation work is impartial, independent, and based on a methodology developed over the years and used in every country we observe.
I would also like to emphasize that our election observation is not an end in itself and is not intended to criticize states or governments, but to help improve the electoral process for the benefit of all citizens.
The ODIHR is now preparing its final report. This report will summarize the election observation and contain recommendations, which we would be happy to discuss with the Albanian authorities, political parties and civil society, to identify ways to support electoral reform and the effective implementation of our recommendations in Albania.
