"As long as Sali Berisha is at the head of the party, the DP will never come to power. And those who dare to oppose him from within the parliamentary group, as the only possibility to remove him from the leadership, are eliminated, even physically, if they pose a serious threat, as has happened with many characters before. The DP is 'mortgaged' by Berisha and only a family member can inherit it." This was the political analysis of the situation of the Democratic Party and its leader, by Arben Meçe, invited to Report TV's 'Studio Live'.
Meçe said that "Berisha has usurped the DP for four years," adding that the thesis of the May 11 electoral farce is to keep the party from him.
"Those inside are trying to legally attack Berisha with complaints to the CEC or KAS, like Adriana Kalaja, it seems like a scheme within the party to attack Berisha's thesis of electoral farce, through the legal aspect."
Berisha's farce thesis would be refuted through complaints that the CEC would verify and definitively refute this thesis.
So Berisha is trying not to allow them and to hinder them. So within the DP there are candidates who attack Berisha's farcical thesis. I even see lawyer Gjokutaj as part of the scheme, although his reaction surprised me a lot. Gjokutaj is part of the scheme and Berisha is using him, a lawyer with a political thesis. There are anti-Berisha factions within the DP", said the former democrat MP.
But he claimed that there are efforts to oppose, there are groups within that do not like Berisha, but that do not dare or cannot reach him, as he has a paramilitary group and an organized party secret service, which, just as it has eliminated others over the years, will eliminate them too if they 'raise their heads'.
"Now groups of individuals are being identified, openly or under the rug. Is there a possibility of taking the DP from Berisha, that is the question."
Berisha moves with 7-8 bodyguards, he has a powerful paramilitary structure that guards and maintains him. He has already lost credibility, even to Vrenozi, his authority is zero. I even think that there is a party intelligence service, a secret service of the DP, the parties have them, and the SP has them too. It was not without purpose that I said that there are 7-8 people guarding Berisha, a paramilitary group. We have history since Gazidedja, the former Albanian ambassador to the Czech Republic and others, there is history in that party. The former ambassador was even the man who had all the information about the CEZ-DIA operation. There are people who have been eliminated over the years. But I think that even though there are efforts, there will be no factions in the DP, Berisha does not allow them, and even in the past he has suppressed them, he has eliminated them", Meçe told 'Studio Live'.
But could one of them take over the party in the future? Meçe thinks not, since the DP is "mortgaged" to the Berisha family and should be the heir within it when he reaches his physical end.
"I think that the list of DP deputies is already with Berisha's people. There are theses in the air, lines outside the parliament to take over the party are impossible, forget it, there must be movement from within the parliamentary group and not outside it. None of them will take over the DP, from those on the list that we talked about and mentioned here. The DP is certified, it is owned, it is owned by Sali Berisha's family, it must be part of the family, it could be Argita, Shkelzeni, even Liria or the nieces, only they will take over the party. Berisha sells concessions and businesses through protests and pressures. These 50 that Berisha has chosen in parliament, there is no chance of them coming out against it, so we have to wait for its physical end to see the transfer of the party to the family", said Meçe.
