The vice-president of the Democratic Party, Kreshnik Çollaku, says that the unification of the opposition is a serious matter, stressing that the main problem of the opposition has been division.
Çollaku dismissed the possibility of negotiations for a merger, guaranteeing that such a thing is not true at all.
According to him, three of the main factors that can make DP return to the government of the country, is the unification of the vote of every democrat, maintaining inviolable relations with the USA, as well as not having any individual accused by justice as a part of it.
"The matter of unification of the opposition is a very serious matter. I did not follow what Mr. Bardhi said, but I followed what Mr. Boçi said. We must share our minds if we are traitors to the opposition, or part of a family, but who have different opinions. These unfocused movements seem frivolous to me. I stick to my line, I stuck to it even a year ago. The main problem that the opposition has had in two years is the division of the DP. Without the unity of the Democrats in the DP, no formula can work.
For the DP to be in the government of the country, it needs the unification of the vote of every democrat, the second is to maintain inviolable relations with the USA, no open or hidden formula for us works and the third is that individuals infected or accused by Justice for corruption should not be present. I am not worried about the union of 10 or 20 deputies. It is speculative to say that there is a merger negotiation because there is absolutely none, and I guarantee that for sure. We refuse to get involved in a wet or wet game, or with flak thrown in the Assembly.
We will make every effort to defend the opposition's cause and we want to emphasize that the game in parliament with overturned chairs has not helped the opposition, but only Edi Rama. And it has only produced a regulation that is stifling to the opposition. We must find ways to make our opposition effective" , he said in "ABC News".
