Deputy Ervin Salianji has stated that the union in the Democratic Party is not proceeding with the right steps.
Invited to the show 'Studio Live' on Report Tv, Salianji said that the steps towards unification are slow as there are differences between the parties.
He added that the DP needs a new approach to the citizens and its action in the Assembly.
" The parliamentary action is unified and is in the same dimension of the union. The Union is not moving with the right steps. Steps are slow for the union. I hope this process will not be delayed. We must go beyond this parliamentary action, we must go to the citizens. Let's go beyond. It is necessary for the opposition to diversify its action, by communicating with the citizens and making the opposition beyond focusing on one or two specific points ", said Salianji.
Asked about his pro-Berisha approach and the rift with Lulzim Basha, Salianji said that he can't pretend he doesn't know the voter who, according to him, is currently with Berisha.
The democratic deputy said that Lulzim Basha treats the party as property and does not run away even though it can be reduced by 1%.
"I have fought a battle defending the opinions I believe in politics and I have fought this battle even more than Basha. We had an internal party battle, the biggest battle we fought on the ground. Not only did I make statements against Berisha, while Basha was closed, he did not make any further communication. In this context, due to not fighting, we came out in the minority. I have not stood for trust in relation to what Albania needs, but I cannot pretend that I know the voter who at this moment has decided that Berisha has the majority of supporters among the Democrats. We cannot come without Berisha's supporters in power, the democrats have decided so and we must be in a kind of coexistence with different opinions.
There should be no concept of ownership over the party, whoever comes once does not leave and keeps the party, even if it falls by 1% or less. It does not take responsibility for the result, it behaves as if it is for its own interests, it does not allow meritocracy and competition rules. If Berisha is in this dominant position, it is also because of Basha's return to politics ," said Salianji.
