Democratic Party MP Ivi Kaso has stated that the approval of the resolution on EU integration in the last plenary session is a sign being given to Brussels that, unlike what has been the case so far, the Parliament will also be included in the process.
He stated that until this moment the opposition had been excluded from the process, having no information about the details, but that this is expected to change.
Regarding the composition of the resolution, he stated that it does not include praise for the work done by the government, and that its text has been changed at the request of the opposition.
"If you look at the approved text and the one initially proposed by the SP, it is completely different, it was changed at the request of the opposition. We are of the opinion that for integration as an Assembly we have a primary role and thanks to the will of the majority we have been excluded from this active role. Until 2 weeks ago, the Assembly did not have any information regarding the negotiation process related to integration.
"After the last report of the European Council of the EU, which was full of criticism, it was up to the Parliament to give a signal in this direction, and the signal with a resolution that translates into an official document the electoral farce and the criticisms of the EU in the AFET report and does not contain a single word of appreciation for the role of the government and commits to fulfilling the "tasks" given by the EU, should have been adopted. The opposition has never said that the integration process is blocked but that it is stagnant ," he said in "Studio24".
