Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha declared that the DP does not support 'fiscal peace'.
In a press conference, Berisha accused the government of legalizing drug trafficking money with this move.
The chief democrat added that dirty money investments are destroying the Albanian economy.
"I do not support amnesty. The DP does not support amnesty in the legal framework that Edi Rama has brought. This is the DP's position. But if the amnesty happens, you cannot exclude. You cannot exclude that he went to court and the other did not go to court. I do not understand why the one who went to court can be excluded because he went to court, to demand a right. It can never be just one company. I guarantee that there are hundreds of companies in court. But if you go in and forgive those who did not go to court and did not forgive those who did go to court, who at least claim that they have a right and dare to demand their right, you create at least an inequality.
But we are absolutely against this amnesty law. We have declared it, of this amnesty which hides the black channels of laundering billions of euros from clans and drug cartels. We are categorically against it. At first glance, this may seem that we are against the flow of money. We are because it is toxic money, it is destructive. It is a fact that these investments are destroying the Albanian economy.
How are they destroying it? They are destroying it with one main mechanism, and then the others, which is the devaluation of the euro. I have never seen a show on television studios about the devaluation of the euro and the terrible consequences on the Albanian economy. The devaluation of the euro by 35% means the loss of at least 35% of the profit of all export companies that work with the euro. It means a decrease in production in agriculture, industry and a huge increase in prices. It means an economic shock", he said.
