The Socialists have no intention of stopping. Two days ago, Sali Berisha, the leader of the Democratic Party, at a meeting of the party's Presidency, instructed his party to stop any talks, negotiations on names or specific issues with the Socialists, as a response to the election of the People's Advocate, which the largest opposition party contested.
Despite the fact that the Democrats supported the candidacy of Endri Shabani with 35 signatures, who was voted in with 85 votes from Edi Rama's socialists as People's Advocate, Berisha spoke about the scenarios and machinations that were applied.
At today's meeting of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, one of the issues discussed was precisely this new stance of the opposition, which seems to have conditioned relations with the parliamentary majority.
At the meeting of the Socialist Group, the decision was clear: we will move forward, we have no time to waste. Also present at the meeting was Prime Minister Edi Rama, who, according to reports, has instructed his people not to stop and condition what he considers reforms on the presence or absence of the opposition.
This was also confirmed after the meeting by Taulant Balla, who, in a statement to the media, said that the minority cannot take hostage the parliamentary agenda.
"If they think they can take the work of the Commissions hostage, they are wrong. They are indeed bipartisan commissions, but this does not mean that we should wait. Just as they set conditions, we can also change our positions. We will wait until the end of this year, to eat the New Year's rooster, because I believe that we are dealing with an emotional decision," said Balla, referring to the boycott that the DP, as the largest opposition party, has made of the two bipartisan commissions.
It is not yet known what stance the Democrats will take in relation to the Parliament, but it seems that everything will be related to the protest of December 22. If there is a large participation of opposition supporters, it seems that the strategy that the opposition will follow in relation to the Assembly will also be new.
