"Berisha has returned to Rama's sidekick", Salianji: We will not

Former Democratic MP Ervin Salianji has continued his strong criticism of the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, stating that his position at the head of the blue headquarters is indirectly helping Prime Minister Edi Rama stay in power.

During a meeting with supporters, Salianji praised Berisha's historic role in the Democratic Party and political pluralism in Albania, but stressed that today's political situation requires a new generation of leaders.

"Let's say it unequivocally, Sali Berisha is the historical leader of the DP. His contributions to the DP are indisputable in the years of pluralism ," declared Salianji.

However, he said that the current leader of the Democrats is politically exhausted and no longer manages to unite the opposition.

"After 36 years in politics, he is today politically exhausted, internationally isolated and unable to unite the opposition ," said the former Democratic MP.

Salianji also used a strong political metaphor against Berisha, describing him as the "kambaleci" who keeps Edi Rama in power.

" His position at the head of the DP harms the opposition and helps Edi Rama, turning into the 'rocking horse' that keeps him in power," he declared.

Finally, Salianji emphasized that Berisha must pave the way for a new generation in the Democratic Party.

"Sali Berisha is a burden for the opposition and should open his arms to another generation ," he concluded.

During his speech, Salianji stated that the DP must inspire citizens and restore the massive mobilization of the electorate.

"We must inspire change and bring over 800,000 voters to the ballot boxes. The DP must change," he said.

Salianji stated that the meetings throughout Albania aim to build a Democratic Party that, according to him, can mobilize a majority of citizens and restore the "moral superiority" with which the Democrats previously came to power.

" We see this today in this hall of Dibra, next time we will hold the meeting in the stadium," he declared, while thanking the democrats of Dibra, Durrës, Elbasan, Gjirokastra, Berat and Shkodra for their support.

The former MP warned that the movement he started will also extend to the capital.

"Tirana is waiting, we have not left it for the end. Those who hold branch elections in Tirana secretly, we will shake Tirana too ," said Salianji.

He described this as an unprecedented move in the history of the Democratic Party, emphasizing that this is the first time the incumbent is being challenged with such support from the Democratic base.

" We have never seen in the history of the DP a sitting president challenged and have this support from the Democrats," he said.

In the end, Salianji declared that he and his supporters will not back down in the face of political pressure and attacks.

"We have not offended anyone, we did not want to cause division, but we have received insults, blackmail and lynching. I am saying this even from Dibra, they are neither scaring me nor blackmailing me. We are not backing down, they have stuck the saw in the nail with us ," declared Salianji.
