The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called on citizens to participate in today's protest.
A few hours before the start of the protest, Berisha asked citizens to unite and react to the overthrow of the government.
In his message, Berisha invites citizens to mobilize massively and take to the streets.
"Therefore, the most dignified way to honor today the 34th anniversary of March 22 is for us all to take to the streets, to stand up strongly to oppose this regime, to demand the immediate removal of Edi Rama from power ," he said.
The chief democrat emphasizes that the protest aims to oppose what the opposition calls electoral manipulation and use of power for illegal interests.
"To prove to Edi Rama and the world that we never agree with electoral farces," Berisha said in his statement.
He describes the protest as an important civic act and calls for broad participation.
"Today, let us transform this day into the greatest peaceful uprising that Albania has ever known ," Berisha emphasized.
The rally called by the opposition is expected to take place today, while there are still no full details on participation or security measures. So far, there has been no official reaction from the government regarding the calls and accusations raised by the leader of the Democratic Party.
"In conditions of rape, of the transformation of the vote, of the elections into an electoral farce, in conditions of close cooperation of the government at all levels with the drug cartels and finally in conditions of legal packages and the use of criminal mandates, to block the fight against corruption, to protect corruption, the theft of Albanian citizens by Edi Rama and his criminal organization.
Therefore, the most dignified way to honor the 34th anniversary of March 22 today is for us all to take to the streets, to stand up strongly to oppose this regime, to demand the immediate removal of Edi Rama from power.
To prove to Edi Rama and the world that we will never agree with electoral farces.
We will never agree with the use of criminal mandates and the laws of the country to protect the thief governors and the thief-in-chief of the country.
"Today, let us transform this day into the greatest peaceful uprising that Albania has known, once again into a day of great hope for Albanians, for their European future," Berisha said, among other things.
