The first meeting of the Electoral Reform Commission, reconvened after two years of absence, has failed.
Bardhi and Berisha's group deputies sat in the members' seats, preventing a normal development of the meeting, while socialist deputies left the environment where the Electoral Reform Commission was to be held.
The socialist co-chairman of this commission, Damian Gjiknuri, stated that these are acts of vandalism, as he added that a way should be found to follow the Electoral Reform Commission.
The head of the DP Parliamentary Group Gazment Bardhi said that it is Edi Rama who is blocking the Electoral Reform. In a statement to the media, he said that this was another farce by the socialists and those with an opposition mandate who pretend they intend to carry out the Electoral Reform.
"Another act of farce was promised between the majority MPs and those with an opposition mandate to pretend they intend to carry out electoral reform. The goal was to throw ashes in the eyes of the Albanian citizens. They have no products. Today, the opposition has not blocked the Electoral Reform Commission, but it is the majority that has blocked the participation of the opposition in the Electoral Reform Commission. Edi Rama does not want opposition representatives for Electoral Reform. The opposition wants to participate in the Electoral Reform Commission, but it is not allowed. It is being held hostage by the will of Edi Rama. There are about 50 opposition MPs who have lost faith in the Electoral Reform. How long have they lost the trust of more than 2/3 of the opposition MPs? It's funny that they keep acting like they have our trust. We have supported them for two years to advance the Electoral Reform, but they have blocked the work on the Electoral Reform", said Bardhi.
