The co-chairman of the Electoral Reform Commission, Enkelejd Alibeaj, has stated that he is open to receiving proposals from all opposition parties for the Electoral Commission.
He emphasized that he is only a representative of the Democratic Party and not of the interests of the opposition in the parliament.
"I will be honest with anyone. I am the co-chairman of this commission, requested many years ago by the Democratic Party, because the majority did not want it. To be honest, I am a representative of the Democratic Party, and not the interests of the opposition in parliament. Therefore, I am not strict and closed about those matters, and do not add others. Each of those members of the opposition is welcome to bring new proposals, propose and discuss them. Here is another fact that we must be equal as the opposition and the majority", said Alibeaj.
Enkelejd Alibeaj, in the statement to the media before the start of the Electoral Reform Commission meeting, was also asked about Oerd Bylykbashi, previously proposed by Sali Berisha's group as co-chairman. Alibeaj said that the co-presidents have always been representatives of political parties.
"If it is read to the end, based on this letter, which is being sent by the parliamentary group, there is also a draft decision that has become a decision of the assembly, on which the reform commission has been set up. And this decision, based on this letter, has determined in its point 4 that the co-chairs will be representatives of the SP and DP, respectively. This has always happened, the co-presidents have always been representatives of political parties," he said.
Alibaej said that DP wants open lists, national proportional system, counting and electronic voting as well as the vote of the diaspora.
