Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama appreciated the invitation that US President Donald Trump sent him on the occasion of his membership in the newly created "Peace Committee" via social networks.
"Good morning and with the honor and pleasure to share with you the letter I received yesterday from the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, in which I thank you for the privilege of the trust you have given me, and I assure you that I will do everything necessary to celebrate the name of Albania and the dignity of Albanians, I wish you a peaceful week," Rama wrote in a post on social networks.
However, he did not emphasize one thing: how much it will cost "the dignity of Albanians" and how he will pay for it.
Trump will ask countries that want to join his "Peace Board" to oversee Gaza to pay $1 billion for membership, Bloomberg and The Atlantic reported.
A draft of the charter seen by both media outlets indicated that Trump would be the first chairman of the executive board, which would approve which member states could join the board. The board would become official once all three member states agree to the charter.
"Each member state shall serve for a term of not more than three years from the entry into force of this Charter, subject to renewal by the President," the draft states, according to Bloomberg.
"The three-year membership period shall not apply to member states that contribute more than US$1,000,000,000 in cash to the Peace Committee in the first year after the entry into force of the Charter."

"It started with cannabis, but the business developed into the trade of tons of cocaine, Albanians linked to the Calabrian 'Ndrangheta and Latin American cartels," the text says.
Given that Trump is targeting Latin American drug cartels in Mexico, Colombia, and Venezuela, it could be that Rama is hoping to curry favor with the US president and be left out of the upcoming State Department report.
It is not known what is being financed.
Member states will be able to vote on the board's decisions, but Trump will have the sole authority to approve them, The Hill writes.
It remains unclear what the $1 billion membership fee will fund. The Atlantic newspaper reported that the draft charter does not address where the membership fees go, only that funding for the board's expenses would be done "through voluntary funding from member states, other states, organizations or other sources."/ Alo.rs
