The elections in branch no. 1 in Tirana are closed. Astrit Jegeni and Fatos Mehmetaj are the two selected candidates.
The chairman of the official Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, during his speech at the electoral assembly of the branch in the capital, said, among other things, that many would bet that this day would not come after 2.5 years of "war", but the opposite happened.
Basha added that DP was made clear by his friends that in order to come to power, he would have to break away from aspects of the past, but according to him, some of them chose their personal interest and not that of the Democrats.
"This branch comes at this moment after 2.5 years of aggression against the values and principles rooted in us as democrats. The language of the political opponent was adopted to attack the Democrats for choosing to stand by Western values and the alliance with the USA.
That's why it's been so difficult. Many would have bet that this evening would not come. Apparently, this moment of expiration of the PD opportunists was expected to highlight the values and virtues of the PD.
The battle is being fought for the democratic youth to come to the forefront.
