The Democratic Party of Albania has started the process of identifying its candidates for deputy.
In an announcement to the media, the PD informs that the Presidency of this party has also approved the instructions that it has sent to the branches of the party, where the criteria and rules for the selection of candidates for deputies are defined.
It is learned that in the branches that have completed the election process, the candidate selection process will start immediately.
In the decision of the Presidency of the DPSH, it is stated that "the process must be transparent, comprehensive and with the aim of maximizing votes".
" Within 5 days from the entry into force of this instruction, in the presence of the Delegated member of the Working Group, a meeting of the Presidency is held in each Branch of the Party for the beginning of the consultation process with the membership and the approval of the calendar of consultative meetings and the appointment of the date of the meeting of the Presidency of the Party Branch, in which candidacies for MPs will be proposed. The meeting for the proposals takes place no later than 7 days from the first meeting " - it is further stated in the decision made public by the Presidency of the Democratic Party.
A special place in the criteria for selecting candidates for deputies in the upcoming elections is the implementation of the decriminalization law, for which the PD is invested and has it as non-negotiable, as well as the lustration law, according to which none of the proposals of this political force must not have had any public or political function during the period 1944-1991.
Thus, in Annex A, when talking about the criteria, in points c and ç, it is expressly stated that the candidate of the Democratic Party for political representation for the Deputy must meet the criteria:
c) not to be ineligible for a public function, according to law no. 138/2015 "On guaranteeing the integrity of persons who are elected, appointed or exercise public functions", as amended";
ç) in the period 29.11.1944 - 02.07.1991 not to have been a member or candidate of the Political Bureau, member of the Central Committee of the Labor Party of Albania, member of the Presidium of the People's Assembly, president of the Supreme Court, Prosecutor General, head of the General Investigation, member of the Council of Ministers, head of the Internal Affairs Branches, employee of the former State Security bodies, former State Security associate or favored member, member of the Deportation-Internment Commission, investigator , prosecutor, judge in political processes.
Also, a special place has been given to the representation of women, youth, representatives of the persecuted or owners, representatives of entrepreneurship as well as new streams from the academic world or civil society in the future lists for deputies, where, among others , it is said that "the process of proposing and consulting candidacies takes into consideration: a. the representation of women must be no less than 30% of the total number of candidates; b. the representation of young people should not be less than 10% of the total number of candidates; c. the inclusion of representatives of the politically persecuted or owners, representatives of entrepreneurship as well as new streams from the academic world or civil society".
The Democratic Party of Albania is committed to a transparent process and in full compliance with the public interest, giving Albanians a dignified list, where everyone feels represented.
Only a politics with a human face and high moral and political integrity can transform politics into the service of the people and can return the lost trust in politics.
