Despite the fact that Edi Rama trumpeted his participation in the Peace Board and his MPs sold it as a new era in relations with the US, in fact, the facts speak differently. Yesterday we reported that Osmani was received in a meeting with Secretary Marco Rubio, but that was not the only meeting, as the list is long. Meanwhile, Edi Rama's only achievement was a 40-second conversation with Trump and a visit to the Atlantic Council.
Trump has been in the White House for over a year and Rama has not made any official visits to the US, while in Tirana he has often been ignored by the Americans. In November, the US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State, Mark Fleming, came to Tirana. He held many meetings, but ignored Rama.
In recent days, the Director of the Office for Europe and Asia of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of the State Department, Mark Tervakoski, was in Tirana. He met with the President, the heads of SPAK, BKH and many others, but not Rama.
But the biggest blow came to Edi Rama a few days ago. The US Embassy in Pristina congratulated the creation of the new government of Kosovo. Although there have been many clashes with Kurti and even been threatened with sanctions several times, the US has once again extended a hand of cooperation to Kurti. Even Rubio today declared that they will work with the new government. Meanwhile, no one congratulated Rama.
