The situation in the Socialist Party does not seem calm at all, even though Prime Minister Edi Rama does not hesitate at any moment to remind not only his own people, but also those beyond, that the majority he leads has a full 83 mandates of deputies. And it seems that with the number of mandates he mentions, the Prime Minister intends to show the strength he has, especially in the Assembly hall.
But some details, seemingly insignificant, show that some of those considered 'senators' among the Socialists, some with a mandate as MPs, and others, without managing to win one on May 11, are increasingly showing a distancing from Edi Rama.
After the party organized by the Socialists in Berat, where some of the SP figures preferred not to participate, another party, on the occasion of the end-of-year holidays, has evidenced the same thing.
This time the celebration was for the socialists of Tirana, who on Monday evening gathered at the Brigades Palace, in the company of the Prime Minister, to congratulate each other on the end-of-year holidays.
According to reports, some of the names that did not join the socialist celebration, despite their political weight, both when the Socialist Party was led by the late Fatos Nano and under the leadership of Edi Rama, held specific positions.
Among the well-known names reported to be absent were former Prime Minister Pandeli Majko, who on May 11 lost the race to obtain a parliamentary mandate, after being included in the open lists of the Socialists of Tirana. Also absent were former MPs Mimi Kodheli and Ermonela Felaj, who on May 11 failed to obtain the legislative mandate.
Arben Pëllumbi, the former Organizing Secretary of the Socialist Party, who also remained outside the Assembly following the May 11 elections, is also reported to have not joined the end-of-year celebration of the Socialists of Tirana.
At least two of the current SP MPs, Fatmir Xhafaj and Erion Braçe, were also not part of the celebration.
But the celebrations were not lacking for ministers, but also for Ogerta Manastirliu, whom Edi Rama has nominated as a candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, and did his best to have her succeed Erion Veliaj, but the Prime Minister's momentum was stopped by the Constitutional Court, which did not legitimize the dismissal of the Mayor.
Even in the video posted by Prime Minister Edi Rama, the latter, as he enters the hall where the party would be held, is greeted by Ogerta Manastirliu.
"With gratitude for every member and activist of the large family of the Socialist Party and with unwavering faith in our unstoppable strength forward, I sincerely wish health and prosperity to every small family of each and every one of you," Rama writes in a comment accompanying the video, which shows footage from the celebration.
It is not known whether the absences from the Tirana Socialists' celebration are a decision of some of the names that once appeared as Rama's confidants, or whether they have been 'forgotten' by the organizers of the celebration.
