The winning candidate in the May 14th elections for the Municipality of Himara, Fredi Beleri, appealed to the Special Court of Appeal against the decision of the Vlora Court that allowed his wiretapping on May 10th.
Through his lawyers, Beleri seeks to declare illegal the audio and video interceptions in private places, made by order of the Prosecutor's Office and which were later considered legal by the Court of Vlora.
The defenders of Fredi Beleri say that the decision that engaged the operational groups for his interception has no date and time of the start and end of the action, as well as the request for their validation, making it illegal.
However, these wiretappings provided key evidence against the winning candidate in the Himara Municipality that showed his involvement in vote-buying for the May 14 local elections and that left him in jail indefinitely.
The Special Court of Appeal will examine this request on June 16 in the Counseling Chamber, as the judge who will assess it is Florjan Kalaja.
SPAK says that the data provided by the investigations of the Prosecutor's Office of Vlora, show 3 conversations of an infiltrator with Fredi Beleri and Pandeli Kokaveshi, where they talk about securing votes for the May 14 elections.
In one of the recorded conversations, Kokaveshi is heard to say that 4 of the 12 names brought by the associate had been caught before and he gave him 40,000 Lek just for 8 votes.
