The meeting was announced through a message addressed to the Democrats and it is learned that their meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m.
"Dear colleagues! Tomorrow, Monday, at 1:00 p.m., we will hold a meeting of the Parliamentary Group, at the group hall in the Presidency of the Assembly," Bardhi wrote to the DP deputies.
We remind you that a few days ago the Presidency of the Democratic Party decided the date of the elections for the new president, which will be held on July 29.
This decision of the Presidency to go to new elections divided the official PD into two parts, as one part wants elections for the chairman, while some do not.
Gazmet Bardhi is among the names that have come out against it.
Bardhi requested that the meeting of the National Council be called, as according to him, only this body can make the decision to go to the elections.
We remind you that on June 11 the Presidency of the official DP decided that the elections for the head of the party will be held on July 29.
In the meeting that lasted for 10 hours, it was proposed to first hold elections at the structure level and then elect the new chairman, but this formula, which had the support of General Secretary Gazment Bardhi, was not supported by the other members of the presidency. In addition to the discussions between the members of the presidency, there were also incidents in the meeting as some of the supporters of Lulzim Basha came to the premises where the meeting was held. They insulted the members of the presidency and the deputies who did not agree that the elections for the new president should be held in the month July.
Among the deputies who were the focus of insults were Gazment Bardhi and Dashnor Sula.
Despite these incidents, the official PD will continue the process for electing a new president. According to the Presidency's decision, people who want to be part of the race for the new president have until June 20 to submit their application for candidacy.
On June 24 to July 27, the candidate campaign will take place throughout the country.
After the election of the new president, the extraordinary status assembly must be held within the month of September.
After the debates at the meeting of the Presidency, Jorida Tabaku, after refusing to be the commanding chairman of the official DP, decided to resign from her position as vice-chairman of the party.
DP will start the electoral process starting with the registration of DP membership with the right to vote.
Meanwhile, the other DP group, headed by Sali Berisha, invited Bardhi's group again yesterday for negotiations.
"DP has every potential to unite. Each of its MPs, except for Basha and Alibrava, has a place, has contributions, and is welcome in the PD. Deputies who want to create a faction are welcome. We are welcome to sit down, discuss, negotiate, debate as people, as deputies, as leaders, with great responsibility for the future of this party and the Albanian opposition," Berisha told the media yesterday./Pamphlet
