Today, the opposition has come up with concrete names for the Municipality of Tirana after many days of waiting.

Three potential names for the Municipality of Tirana that were proposed at the meeting of allies and the DP are activist Edlira Cepani, pedagogue Ermal Hasimja and Florian Hackaj.

These names were discussed today at a meeting of representatives of the Democratic Party and allies, from which the candidate who will compete against Ogerta Manastirliu for the Municipality of Tirana, who was presented by Edi Rama at the SP Assembly on September 11, could be selected.

So far, there is no agreement on any of them and negotiations will continue between the parties.

The only thing the DP has agreed on with other opposition parties is that the candidate for Tirana will not be from among the political forces.

Also today, the negotiating group of the Democratic Party, after meeting with the leader of the Nisma Thurje, Endri Shabani, continued meetings with the leaders of two other opposition parties, Mundësia and PDIU, to continue discussions on the candidate for the partial elections in the Municipality of Tirana.

After the meeting, Belind Këlliçi spoke to the media, saying that the opposition is unified on the idea of running against Ogerta Manastirliu with a single candidate.

"We have agreed that we need a unified candidacy of the opposition spectrum. All political forces have a consensus to come up with a name that can confront the candidate who symbolizes Covid and death. For technicalities, we have discussed specific names, we have agreed on the profile that she should have," he said.

Asked whether they would enter the elections, if President Bajram Begaj decrees it, Belind Këlliçi and Ilir Alimehmeti stated that the decision on this will be made by the party's high forums.

"It is up to the high forums of the DP to discuss. We have already declared that we will not boycott the elections, but this remains to be seen. Within two days, I believe we will have a conclusion to the formal meetings," added Këlliçi.

"We will allow experts to discuss the reaction. We are for uniting all opposition forces together," said Alimehmeti.

Likewise, the MP of the Opportunity Party, Erald Kapri, stated that it is important that from these negotiations, the opposition emerges with a common candidate, who is a person of integrity and completely distanced from any accusations.

"We agree with the principle, the name is not important. We are not setting any conditions for the name, we are on the principle. We have also given other ideas. For us, the principle is important and we are not making conditions for the name. We will stick to the principle. This principle is being respected. We think that this is the only way that Tirana can be won and with the name with integrity, a model against Manastirliu. A professional, public person, who really has the chances," said Kapri.

These names come after the two preferred candidates of the Democrats in the May 11 elections, Jorida Tabaku and Ilir Alimehmeti, refused to run for Tirana.

On the other hand, Erion Veliaj's appeal to the Constitutional Court against his dismissal from the Tirana municipality is a decision that suspends campaign preparations for Tirana as the date of the partial elections in Tirana is postponed for several months, until the Constitutional Court makes a decision on whether to reinstate the dismissed mayor or not.

Without paying attention to the mayor imprisoned in the cells of Durrës, Edi Rama advanced towards the campaign with unusual haste.

On September 11, he announced the dismissal of Veliaj and in the same spirit nominated Ogerta Manastirliu as a candidate. Six days later, on September 17, the SP councilors lined up with their signatures under pressure, to seal what became a fact on September 23, when the municipal council, in alliance with the DP, voted to dismiss the mayor.

Ermal Hasimja eshte nje kandidature potenciale, intelektual dhe qytetar ne kuptimin e plote te fjales. Nese vendoset perfundimisht per te, mund te jete nga te vetmit qe premton nje permbysje te madhe dhe pse shume e veshtire. Do jete e turpshme qe Rama te fitoj serish Tiranen, kur e ka shkaterruar me doren e tij ate. Arroganca ne dhenien e lejeve te ndertimit, betonizimi, shkaterrimi i hapesires gjelber etj etj ka ndodhur vetem me bekimin dhe urdherin e drejtperdrejt te ketij kryeministri kaq te korruptuar. Ndaj duhet thene STOP me cdo kusht. Te tregohemi qytetare dinjitoz, mos lejojme te na neperkembin dhe neglizhojne ne kete fare mase. Nuk ka rast tjeter per ta peshtyre ne fytyre jete batakci kryeminister.
