History repeats itself/ the '3Bs' and the DP's great hope from

Such a feeling was also created in 2016, when Trump won the first mandate, but the expected political change, according to the DP, in Albania in 2017 did not happen. It was even the year when PD faced perhaps the greatest pressure up to that time from DASH led by Tillerson, the nominee of the American President.

After the victory of Donald Trump in the elections of November 5, there is an increase in the enthusiasm of Sali Berisha's democrats in Tirana regarding the change of policies in the US-PD relations.

The Biden administration declared Berisha 'non grata' just 3 weeks after the 2021 parliamentary elections, this decision not only led to the sanctioning of the former Prime Minister, but brought the Democratic Party into a strong clash, which led to a big rift between the two camps, those who supported Berisha and others who were pro Lulzim Basha.

Already after Trump's victory, there is an expectation from some DP officials that the new administration will revoke the sanctioning measure, removing Berisha from the "US blacklist".

And beyond the expectations they have in the case of Berisha, others go a little further, connecting Trump's coming to power with political changes in Albania, including the rotation in the May 11 elections.

Such a feeling was also created in 2016, when Trump won the first mandate, but the expected political change, according to the DP, in Albania in 2017 did not happen. It was even the year when PD faced perhaps the greatest pressure up to that time from DASH led by Tillerson, the nominee of the American President.

If we refer to history, this enthusiasm shown now is similar to that of 24 years ago, exactly in 2001, when parliamentary elections were held in Albania. In 2000 in the USA, George W. Bush won the elections, who entered the White House on January 20, 2001, almost 5 months before the parliamentary elections were held in Albania. In Italy, Berlusconi won with his Forza Italia party. And the optimists of that time started predicting the victory of the third 'B', which was Sali Berisha who led the Democratic Party.

In fact, in the elections that were held in June 2001, the SP led by Fatos Nano won 84 mandates, but the problem that arose was the fact that 13 of these were produced in Dushk of Lushnje. This was the reason that at that time there was an international commitment not to recognize this result, but no one questioned at that time the 71 mandates, that is, that the SP had the right to form the Government.

The subsequent developments led to the famous agreement of 2002 between Berisha and Nano, where it was decided that the President, the head of KLSH, the General Prosecutor, the head of SHISH, the head of ILDKP, the Ombudsman were to be elected by the consensus of the parties. From the agreement of that time, Berisha on behalf of the DP proposed from the President to the General Prosecutor, while the President of the Supreme Court was exclusive to the opposition.

So, in short, there was a division of power at the table, where what were considered independent constitutional institutions were either proposed by the opposition, or were chosen by consensus, ignoring in these cases the absolute majority that the SP and its allies had in the Assembly hall at that time . / Pamphlet /
