Former Socialist Party MP Petro Koçi said that the opposition chose to support Florjan Binaj's candidacy in the Tirana Municipal Elections on November 9th to avoid political responsibility.
According to him, Binaj is not an independent candidate.
"It's part of a fraudulent platform and I'm saying, a false claim, as if he's an independent candidate. He's not independent, but he's completely dependent. I said he's a soldier of the Berisha family and he's a soldier of the establishment, not an opponent of the establishment," Koçi said on A2 CNN.
According to him, the leaders of the Democratic Party did not have the courage to compete against the SP with a name from the party.
"Yes, all those leaders of the Democratic Party who did not have the courage to compete against the SP are popular. Flamur Noka is also well-known, they are all popular. A serious party, when it thinks of Tirana that needs to be governed properly, definitely needs a proven political figure and with proven administrative capacity, and in this specific case we do not have any of these. It is a choice for humor and it is a choice that the Democratic Party has made because it wants to avoid responsibility for the result, because it is doing the same thing in the six municipalities. So, we could ask a question if it would do differently in the other municipalities and in the case of Tirana, we are saying it made a choice that was forced by the impact and power of the personality of an actor. That is not the case. It has made a uniform choice in the six municipalities and it only had to find six names that should be interpreted as independent."
According to him, the elections for Tirana are closed and the winner will be Manastirliu.
"Arlind Qori plays with Qari despite the fact that we are dealing with the same word and only one vowel changes. So he says I'm going to play, I know I'll get some votes and I'll call this, I want to call it an achievement, but there is no chance for him to win. So here the race is closed," Koçi added.
