Endri Shabani's relative writes to the CEC: Give me the mandate of MP!
The conflict within the "Albania Becomes Initiative" coalition deepens.
Zeqir Kordhoni, the candidate of the "Nisma Thurje", is officially seeking the mandate of MP. He is said to be Endri Shabani's uncle and was included by the latter as a candidate on the closed list.
But even though Shabani has declared these days that Lapaj will take the mandate and the candidates on the closed list will implement the resignation pact, Kordhoni is not convinced.
After the letter a few days ago to the CEC, where he requested to be acquainted with the resignation document, he has submitted another request, in which he withdraws his resignation and expresses his willingness to take the mandate if his turn comes.
" I, the undersigned Zeqir Kordhoni, have run for the 'Albania Initiative' Coalition in the Tirana district in the parliamentary elections of May 11, 2025.
Through this declaration signed before a notary today, on 15/07/2025, I wish to inform the Central Election Commission of my full willingness to exercise the function of deputy in the event that I am declared the winner, after the distribution of mandates in accordance with the rules set forth by the Electoral Code of the Republic of Albania.
In this context, I request that the CEC ignore any other statement previously filed by the 'Albania Initiative' Coalition or in my name and consider only this statement as a clear and valid expression of my will ," he said.
The signals are that we are dealing with a Lapaj-Shabani conflict. The leader of "Shqipëria Bëhet" promised that he would hand over the mandate of the deputy if his party received only one deputy. If this happened, the mandate would pass to Endri Shabani. However, Lapaj changed his mind and declared that he will keep the mandate, as the most voted in Tirana.
This, it seems, has brought tension and Shabani's relative appeared on the scene, who seems to be disrupting Lapaj's work, although it is difficult to reach him, as there are many other names above and it is not surprising that someone else would come forward and seek a mandate as an MP. /Pamphlet
