Luçiano Boçi, vice president of the Democratic Party, has raised several questions regarding the closure of TikTok in Albania, which led to today's protest. He emphasizes that this measure, taken a few weeks before the start of the electoral campaign, raises doubts about its motives and consequences.
"Some normal questions arise now. Why was TikTok shut down right now, before the election campaign, and why was this decision made for a period of only 1 year? What will happen to this social network? Will its users and managers be educated?" he said.
Boçi also stressed that closing TikTok may not be an appropriate solution to prevent the spread of information that has negative effects on young people. According to him, other countries have used information filters as an effective tool to prevent the spread of content that can cause violence or negative influences.
"A more acceptable solution would be to use filters to protect users, especially younger ones," he added.
