The head of the Democratic Party Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has reacted to Minister Ferit Hoxha's maneuvers to cover up the scandal with insults against Albanians in North Macedonia.
Hoxha hosted a meeting today with Izet Mexhiti, chairman of the Democratic Movement in North Macedonia and mayor of the Municipality of Chair, a meeting designed to cover up the scandal.
Bardhi argues that the issue cannot be considered closed without political responsibility, especially at a time when, according to him, Albanians in North Macedonia face various challenges.
In his reaction, Bardhi also criticizes the way the situation was managed by Minister Hoxha, claiming that there were contradictory positions regarding the authenticity of the message and attempts to relativize the issue through public meetings.
He further expresses concern about the lack of reaction from Prime Minister Edi Rama, interpreting this as an attitude that goes beyond the individual and affects the government's political line.
Full reaction:
Insulting the Albanians of North Macedonia, calling them "idiots", can never be an issue that is overcome, without bearing political responsibility. This characterization by the Minister responsible for Foreign Policy of the Republic of Albania, comes at a time when the Albanians of North Macedonia are facing many challenges and constitutes a serious violation of the constitutional obligations that the Albanian authorities in the Republic of Albania have towards the Albanians living outside the state border.
The lack of reflection on the part of Minister Ferit Hoxha cannot be overcome with staged meetings, where guests are not even allowed to respond freely. Initially he lied that the SMS was fabricated, then he was forced to delete it, then to leave the WhatsApp group, and today he staged a meeting to convince Albanians that it is an issue that has been overcome. All these actions confirm that he is acting under panic and under the weight of missing responsibility.
Even more worrying is the silence of Prime Minister Edi Rama, proving that Minister Ferit Hoxha's characterization of Albanians is not personal, but a state line of Edi Rama's government. This is more than unacceptable.
Minister Ferit Hoxha will be summoned to the Assembly to account for his stance towards Albanians across the border, which coincides with the stance of Nikolla Pashiqi or Vasa Çubrilloviçi towards Albanians. Neither Nikolla Pashiqi nor Vasa Çubrilloviçi can remain at the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania for a single minute, despite being presented in public as Ferit Hoxha or Edi Rama!
