The 18th international conference of the Bled Strategic Forum takes place on August 28 and 29, 2023 under the title "Solidarity for Global Security" and will be the most comprehensive and representative global forum to date.
The Bled Strategic Forum is an intergovernmental project of the Republic of Slovenia, organized by the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs and the Center for the European Future.
The Embassy of Slovenia in Tirana announced a few days ago that the Forum would be held in solidarity with the people affected by the devastating floods.
"In light of the recent catastrophic floods in Slovenia, this year's conference will also focus on fundraising activities for flood relief. Within the framework of the conference, various activities will be organized for the collection of funds for flood relief", it was stated in the announcement of the Slovenian embassy in Tirana.
Fundraising activities will include calls for participants to donate funds for flood relief. There will also be a fundraising concert hosted by the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Natasha Pirc Musar, and a donor dinner with business leaders hosted by the Prime Minister, Robert Golob.
The Conference will have a large participation of guests coming from all five continents.
In total, this year's Bled Strategy Forum will host 32 panel sessions and more than 200 speakers. Eight prime ministers, three presidents, the president of the European Council, 14 foreign ministers and many other high-level guests, as well as members of the Bled Strategic Forum, civil society, international organizations, businessmen, decision-makers and academics have confirmed their participation. .
This year, the Forum aims to further strengthen its partnership with leading international think tanks such as CEBRI – Brazil, Center for China and Globalization – China, Observer Research Foundation – India, Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung – Germany, Global Diplomacy Laboratory - Germany, WMË Foundation - Germany, Interpeace, who have been actively involved in preparing the content of specific debates.
Several Slovenian ministries have also been involved in content development and have organized additional activities in the framework of the Bled Strategic Forum.
This year, for the first time, free rail transport will be available for conference participants on the Ljubljana-Lesce line. Shared transport buses will be organized from the Lesce train station to the conference venues in Bled.
This year's forum, both in terms of content and participation, reflects Slovenia's aspirations as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the mandate year 2024-2025. The title of the Forum, "Solidarity for Global Security", is a meaningful continuation of Slovenia's campaign slogan for the UNSC, "Building trust - Securing the future".
