The Minister of State for Local Government, Ervin Demo, spoke about the territorial reform, emphasizing that it aims to strengthen municipalities and improve the services they provide to citizens.
In a statement to journalists, following the Council of Ministers meeting, Demo underlined the importance of including all actors in this process, including municipalities, regions and citizens themselves, who should provide their opinions on the reform.
"I think that the opinions of all actors, but not only the regions, the citizens, should be included, giving their positions on the reform. There is a lot to discuss. Precisely, the territorial reform is there to address some elements related to municipalities. The central government will not always agree with the municipalities. If we take the reforms in order, there are different positions. Municipalities, with the powers they delegate by law, should be stronger and provide better services in the territory. I believe that we will also hear from many other mayors, who may have different positions, regarding the latest reform", he emphasized.
