The Democratic Party has convened the National Council today, in order to open the way for elections for the president. Despite the debates and clashes within the official PD, the council has secured the necessary quorum. It is learned that 197 members out of 329 in total are participating. So more than half of the members are present.
17 members of the parliamentary group do not participate in this Council, who claim that the Council was convened in violation of the statute. It was Gazmet Bardhi himself who opposed this meeting, but it seems that the Council has met and is expected to come out with some decisions at the end of the meeting.
Meanwhile, there are 7 deputies present in the Council, who were earlier in favor of July 29, they went to the Council meeting. Merita Bakiu, Eralda Tase Bano, Kreshnik Collaku, Seladin Jakupllari, Flutura Açka, Enkelejd Alibeaj and Arbi Agalliu are expected to vote in favor of holding the elections for the DP chairman on July 29.
Meanwhile, it is learned that a resolution has been approved, which opens the way for elections.
RESOLUTION OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY OF ALBANIA
The National Council of the Democratic Party, convened today, on June 20, 2023, as the highest body of the Democratic Party between the two Assemblies, in fulfillment of its political and statutory responsibilities, discussed the situation in the Democratic Party, noting with concern the political developments and efforts to bypass and override the consultation, discussion and decision-making of the National Council especially after the local elections of May 14, 2023.
Këshilli vlerëson se në këto momente përcaktuese për të ardhmen dhe ekzistencën e Partisë Demokratike është përgjegjësi e gjithsecilit, që nga anëtari më i thjeshtë e deri në organet drejtuese dhe përfaqësuese të saj, të veprojnë me pjekurinë, maturinë dhe vullnetin e duhur në shërbim të ngritjes, forcimit dhe shndërrimit të Partisë Demokratike në alternativë vlerash e parimesh që duhet të rezonojë me nevojat e shoqërisë shqiptare.
Këshilli Kombëtar, duke analizuar dhe reflektuar mbi ngjarjet dhe zhvillimet politike, mbi vendimmarrjet e munguara ose të vonuara nga organet drejtuese të Partisë Demokratike në harkun 1S muajve të fundit, konkludon se vetëm riorganizimi përmes një procesi zgjedhor transparent duke filluar me zgjedhjen e kryetarit të partisë dhe organeve të tjera drejtuese e organizative i shërben dhe mundëson ringritjen e Partisë Demokratike, aksionit të saj politik dhe përgatitjen për përballjen e ardhshme elektorale.
The National Council notes that today, more than ever, the democrats only seek to hear their voice and will through voting, in the service of the most just solutions for strengthening and re-establishing the Democratic Party as a party that preserves Euro-Atlantic values and principles with acts, not with words, a party in full cooperation and alliance with strategic partners, the USA, the United Kingdom and the European Union.
For the above, the National Council, in support of the decisions of the Presidency of the Democratic Party, calls on all members, leaders and democratic representatives to commit decisively to serving the future of the Democratic Party and its design as the only force that can bring change.
