The plenary session was accompanied by tensions and debates between the leader of the Opportunity Party, Agron Shehaj, and the chair of the session, Niko Peleshi, after Shehaj's request to speak regarding two denied interpellations was rejected.
Shehaj requested 10 minutes of time in the Assembly to discuss the rejection of interpellations for AKSHI and Air Albania, arguing that this right belonged to him according to the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
"We received a response last week for the denial of two interpellations. I request 10 minutes based on the Rules of Procedure. One for AKSHI and one for Air Albania," Shehaj declared.
But the chairman of the session, Niko Peleshi, opposed the request, emphasizing that the procedure should have been followed immediately after receiving the negative response.
As he continued speaking, Peleshi turned off MP Shehaj's microphone. This caused debates and loud voices in the Assembly hall, while Peleshi warned him that he would expel him from the session if he continued speaking in the hall.
"The request should have been made at the moment the response was returned," Peleshi said.
The debate between them became further tense, as Shehaj accused the chair of the session of violating the Rules of Procedure and denying the right to speak.
"The request for interpellation has been rejected! Don't violate the Rules of Procedure and deny me the right to speak," he said.
Peleshi also said that the request was outside the procedural deadlines.
"You can't ask for it after a month. The rules are clear. You should have asked for it in the next session. We can't have a debate," he declared.
The clash in the hall led to interruptions and tensions during the session, while Shehaj also reacted to the interventions of other deputies in the Assembly.
