In the upcoming local elections, the Freedom Party will run under its own logo and not together with the Democratic Party, while in Kavaja there are strong suspicions that votes were stolen from within and outside the coalition.
This was stated in 'Studio Live' by the Secretary General of the Freedom Party, Tedi Blushi. The latter ran on the closed list of the Tirana District as part of the 'PD-ASHM' coalition, taking the mandate of MP on May 11.
However, Blushi admitted the failure to obtain a positive result in the elections, which he described as stolen by Edi Rama. Blushi also criticized himself for failing to elect Speaker Ilir Meta as a member of Parliament, receiving a poor vote result on the open list of Tirana. Blushi said that the PL votes were stolen and therefore required verification through an appeal.
He underlined that the cooperation with the DP is positive and will continue, while also responding to Monika Kryemadhi's accusations against him regarding his wealth, underlining that "I live at my father-in-law's house."
Blushi said that no one will take the party from Ilir Meta and he will be its leader for decades, while dismissing speculation about his health and psychological condition, describing him as "in top form" and a "pilot".
"The EP report stigmatizes the government for the manipulation and election standards. Mr. Gahler's report clearly expressed the involvement of the state and crime in the May 11 elections. You cannot go to the EU with the Bulgarian train. We have the case of Unit No. 9 in Tirana or the case of Peqin, with the Bulgarian train. The evidence is in the light of day and where 130 thousand ballots whose whereabouts are unknown, like the 130 million euros of the Tirana incinerator. We have cases where gangs on election day and beyond, like in Vora, where gangs took hostage the voting center there. The government even encouraged them, led by the Speaker of Parliament Elisa Spirolaki, by providing them with badges through Ilirjan Celibashi. The election result is not an expression of the will of the citizens, but dictated with pen and paper by Edi Rama. There is still no investigation into the Vora case, neither by the Task Force or SPAK and there is no "There is still no explanation to this day about what happened that day and who those people were," Blushi said.
He stood by the request and suspicions that the result in Kavaja was distorted, but did not accuse the DP and its commissioners, even though many opposition candidates have come out publicly and accused them of vote-stealing within the coalition.
"We have reasonable doubts that the will of the citizens of Kavaja has been changed. A state machine has intervened and who else, it is a matter of political will, a drug trafficking racket, where even SPAK acted only after the elections, and only a few people were involved. The head of SPAK does not dare to say the names of the gang leaders, this means a lot. The leaders of the criminal organizations are free, only a few dummies have been arrested. Altin Dumani does not see them as he does not see intellectual crime or incinerators. There have been his own setbacks at certain moments, but in general the coalition's cooperation has been very good and positive. I would even like to thank all the tellers and commissioners who stood up to the situations, even those who voted for President Meta are heroes, as they have rejected pressures, blackmail, threats, etc.," said the PL leader in the absence of Ilir Meta, who has been in pre-trial detention since October 21. 2024.
But is there a rift between the DP and the DP and will the opposition go to Parliament in September, or will it boycott it?
"There have also been problems of various natures and concessions, but this is not the time to analyze them, because an electoral massacre has occurred on the other side, as Rama is trying to shift attention from what has happened. But the internationals saw it, we have the reports and resolutions. We do not accept the elections and do not leave space for Rama on the other side, repeating the mistake of burning mandates, which is not a mistake but national betrayal. We will certainly fight our battle in Parliament, no space for Rama, he will not be able to enjoy this mandate, he will not be able to close it. Be convinced of this", said Blushi, also pointing at former leader Monika Kryemadhi (former LSI).
But will the electoral coalition between the DP and the PL continue in the future or will they go their separate ways after the Kavaja crisis?
"We will clarify this moment for the next local elections, whether we will be together with the PD or JIO. We have started the analysis, so I thank the voters of Mr. Meta and all the counters. Of course, we also had our mistakes, as we gave in in some cases, such as the lists that went from the PL to the patronage of Edi Rama. We have started the engines of the next local election campaign, we will compete with its logo for the municipal councils and will get a result that will exceed your predictions. We will run with our logo, but there is no rift with the PD. Last time, the PD did not have its seal, so we ran together. Efforts are being made to create an artificial conflict between the PL and the PD. We have maintained our position, as has President Ilir Meta, denouncing Rama's efforts to the point of taking the PD hostage. Mr. Meta made his contribution and saved the Democratic Party from being taken hostage by Rama", underlined the secretary of General of PL.
Blushi also responded to Kryemadhi's accusations about his wealth and that he owns three houses, while also receiving state benefits.
"Tedi Blushi doesn't have a house, I live in an apartment built during the time of Enver Hoxha, which belongs to my father-in-law, so it's not mine. With my modest income, I haven't had the opportunity to own a house of my own. I have no complexes to say this, I am very calm about my wealth, my wealth is my family, my moral purity," he told Report TV.
The future Member of Parliament also dismissed speculation about the health and psychological condition of President Meta in detention, underlining that no one has yet beaten him at ping-pong while in detention.
Blushi also criticized himself for failing to make Meta an MP, saying that the mayor inside prison received more votes in his center than those outside.
"I met Meta three days ago, his condition is top-notch, he has the health parameters of a pilot. No one has come out to beat him at ping-pong inside those premises. The condition is very good, I communicate almost every day, but the meetings are scheduled by the IEPV at "Jordan Misja". But they should not have any concerns about his health condition. I want to say that Mr. Meta received more votes inside at his polling station than we who were outside those premises. But those of us who were outside, including me, who also have the main responsibility, could not do it. We have started the analysis, we will correct the mistakes we made in these elections and I think that in the upcoming electoral battle we will have very good results", he said.
But can PL have a new leader in Meta's absence and can he step down from the party leadership after problems with the judiciary?
"This is a big joke because no one has thought about this or should think about it, because Mr. Meta is the undisputed leader of this party. There is no place for such a debate and there is no need to do so. Even at the convention there were candidates who thought they could compete with Mr. Meta and the result was obvious. His leadership is undisputed, he is and will be at the head of that party for decades to come," Blushi concluded.
