The Democratic Party has raised strong allegations of vote manipulation in the May 11 elections, claiming that a scheme known as the “Bulgarian Train” was used in CEAZ No. 40 in Tirana. Through an official statement, the DP is demanding the examination of camera footage from four polling stations within this area.
According to the DP, all ballots found in the respective boxes were folded identically and joined together, which according to it is a clear indication of the use of this old manipulation method.
"The manipulation of votes in the May 11 elections is proven by the fact in the video, where the ballots are folded in the same shape and symmetry, which clearly shows the well-known phenomenon of the 'Bulgarian Train'," reads the DP statement, distributed by the head of branch 9, Eda Grimci, directly from the scene of the incident at the "7 Marsi" school.
This accusation comes after another incident that occurred during the day in the same area, where the "Mundësia" Party protested against the declaration of 7 of its votes as invalid, due to the color used in the vote. After tensions with observers, the Central Election Commission intervened and declared the votes in question valid.
In its response, the Democratic Party expresses concern that attempted manipulation is widespread and that the use of methods such as the "Bulgarian train" may have influenced the final result in some areas.
The opposition demands full transparency, an immediate investigation, and surveillance of video footage to guarantee the integrity of the electoral process.
