Minute by minute, there is a reversal of results regarding the mandates of deputies for the new Parliament resulting from the May 11 elections.
And as the last ballot boxes are being counted, the Democratic Party, led by Sali Berisha, has lost two mandates, losing 50 out of the 52 it had.
The DP lost one mandate in Vlora, where it only has 3, while Edi Rama's Socialists have increased their number to 83, bringing their victory in the Vlora Region to 9 mandates. Meanwhile, the Democrats lost one mandate in Tirana, but this time it was not Rama's SP that took it, but Agron Shehaj's Mundësia.
The party of the former DP MP, with around 20 thousand votes, manages to get two MPs in the Tirana District, while the Democrats drop from 14 to 13.
Under these conditions, the DP is heading towards a minimum that seems to turn Edi Rama into an 'election prophet', as during the campaign he warned several times that Berisha would suffer the heaviest defeat since 1997.
With new developments in the vote count, where it seems that those of the Diaspora will be evident, there may be other reversals of results, although no major surprises are expected.
However, with the current configurations, Edi Rama counts 83 pure socialist mandates, which means that he is only 1 mandate away from the figure 84, which marks the qualified majority by which a majority can approve specific laws, including changes to the Criminal Code or the Electoral Code, without including many other legal changes that require a qualified majority.
On the other hand, the DP and its allies are reduced to 50 deputies, being victorious in only two districts: Kukës and Lezha. In Kukës, Berisha's Democrats receive two mandates and in Lezha 4. Meanwhile, in all other districts they register losses that they have not experienced for years.
The third parliamentary party is Tom Doshi's PSD, which seems satisfied with 3 parliamentary mandates, two in Shkodra and 1 in Tirana.
In 4th place is Agron Shehaj's Opportunity Party, which despite expectations of winning 7 mandates, only has two in the Tirana District.
Meanwhile, the Albania Becomes Initiative will be represented with 1 mandate they won in Tirana, as will the Joint Movement. /Pamphlet/
