Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku has seen up close the situation caused by the floods in Fier.
Balluku met with residents in Asturkas, while underlining that the structures are ready to come to the aid of the residents.
The Deputy Prime Minister also said that all residents affected by the floods will be compensated.
"We are in a more improved stage of the situation. The Seman River has returned to its bed. The evacuation of citizens has been completed. We had a situation with shepherds who were unable to contact them, they have been found and are safe. While no rainfall is expected in the next two to three days and this will be the time to recover. All residents affected by the floods will be compensated," said Balluku.
Today, the Seman River embankment broke in several segments, causing severe flooding in the village of Hasturkas, in the Libofshë administrative unit, submerging hundreds of hectares of agricultural land and about 20 homes.
The situation worsened overnight, when the water level continued to rise, forcing residents to remain on full alert amid fear and uncertainty.
Throughout the night, 9 people were evacuated and taken refuge with their relatives, while some families expressed concern about the fate of their loved ones with whom they have lost contact due to the isolation of the area from the water. Residents say that the flood came suddenly, leaving them no time to save household items or livestock.
Army forces have arrived in the area, operating with boats, especially near the sea area and livestock stables, to evacuate not only the shepherds, but also the remaining livestock endangered by the water. The evacuation operation is taking place in difficult conditions, while the river flows continue to remain high.
