The Socialist Party convened its parliamentary group on the Belinda Balluku issue this Monday. After the final report of the Socialist members was presented to the Mandates Council, the SP rejected SPAK's request to the Parliament for the arrest of the former minister.
Immediately after the decision, Prime Minister Edi Rama took the floor at the meeting of the socialist group.
Rama said that there are no charges of theft or corruption against Belinda Balluku.
"Today we are here to publicly announce our position regarding SPAK's request for authorization to restrict Belinda Balluku's freedom.
She has been charged not with theft, not with corruption or anything else related to a crime scene or flagrante delicto, but only with reasonable suspicion that, in her capacity as a former minister, she committed the act of inequality in tenders based on messages found 6 years later on a director's cell phone. "A stupidity of this nature has never happened," Rama said.
