The PS is cleansed of the "old gang"/ From Majko and Kodheli, to Felaj

Here are the current MPs who lost the elections...

Prime Minister Edi Rama appears to have used the open list system to carry out a silent political purge within the Socialist Party.

With a clear and well-thought-out strategy, many of the old figures with long parliamentary mandates were left at the mercy of the preferential vote, a bet that most of them lost.

In Tirana, Pandeli Majko, one of the symbolic names of the Socialist Party and former prime minister, failed to secure the mandate, with only 3,600 preferential votes. Mimi Kodheli and Ermonela Felaj, also with a long parliamentary career, received few votes, remaining outside the new legislature. Also Klotilda Bushka, chairwoman of the Laws Committee, with only 2,639 votes, is another name displaced from the parliamentary scene.

The list of those "cleansed" also includes Etilda Gjonaj (4,406), Toni Gogu (2,458), Plarent Ndreca (4,017), Arben Pëllumbi (1,535), Etjen Xhafaj (796) and even Luan Duzha, Dasantila Tahiraj, Florenc Spaho, Nustret Avdulla, and Enslemvera Zake, all with results that did not secure them a seat in the Assembly.

Still in the race for the mandate are Olta Xhaçka, with 5,046 votes, who faces Blerina Gjylamenti, and Ornaldo Rakipi, with 7,761 votes, who is competing head-to-head with Xhemal Qefalia in Tirana.

But it should be noted that the counting of preferential votes from the diaspora has not yet begun and in some areas we may have changes. But looking at the figures, the result may change slightly, since those who have secured the mandate have a very deep result.
