The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has called on citizens, especially "honest socialists", to join the opposition in removing Prime Minister Edi Rama from power.
During his speech, Berisha accused Rama of using his power to strengthen ties with organized crime. He recalled a statement made in 2013 in the Assembly, when Rama took power.
"When Rama came to power in 2013, I addressed him in the Assembly: Your links with crime are well-known, but Albanian citizens voted for you. I am sure that Brussels will also accept the verdict of Albanian citizens, but everything will be determined by your stance on organized crime. Will you cut ties with crime and gangs, or will you strengthen power to strengthen them? This would be a real tragedy," Berisha said.
Berisha added that, according to him, the prime minister has continued to deepen these ties, describing the Socialist Party as having been transformed into a "criminal organization."
Finally, Berisha reiterated his call to the socialists to join the opposition for a change of government.
